took the boat out for a test run sunday afternoon, brought some fishing poles just in case, put down at the port ran all the way to the bay, water was calm so we rode some more, broke out a fishing pole with a YMB jig head, put the chartreuse swimming mullet and began working the bank between the port and the avery, on the third or fourth cast i casted and thought i was hung up for a second till it started swimming away, it wasn't fighting fast but it was fighting strong, and my string was moving different than i have ever seen before, it was swerving through the water, when i was able to get it up to the surface i notice that the YMB jig head was hooked just in front of the fin by the tail, after fighting the monster for a while and calling Jeremy Wade out, we were able to grab her by the tail with some pliars and pick her up enough to put a .45 in her head we threw her in the boat, fish a little more but nothing so we headed home to clean the beast, oh and by the way it was caught on 20lb test with a zebco 888, about 5-1/2 foot long and weighed it at Dagos 73lbs
i apoligize i know it is kind of a long post for just one fish, but i had fun reeling that thing in, and it is the first time in a long while that i was able to get on the water
