Obstruction behind Grand Bayou Weirs
We passed thru and didn't notice the bumper hanging off under the water. On the way back, we could see it sticking out into the gate area. The water was moving towards Grand Bayou and the bumper was sticking out in a way that we couldn't get thru unless we pushed it back towards the fence. If you go thru heading towards Lambert Bayou, the boat will push it out the way. If you go the other way, it can stick into your boat. It is like a one way check valve. We used a crabbing net to push it out the way, but if you are not careful, the current can push you into the other side, where there is no bumper. |

Thanks for the "Heads-up" report. Hope they get it fixed soon. Never could understand why they made the opening so narrow.

Ray, do you think the broken bumper could be tied up to keep it out of the way?

Max Olmstede needs to put up a container of business cards at the gate and the entrance at Grand with a slogan saying, "I know you'll call, thanks in advance for your fiberglass repair needs."
