Might tag along if next month. If you want I'm not too experienced on the area or the boat I'm getting but by then I will be gung ho. My capten is an old salt and at 200 a day I think it's doable and might get his endorsement around then.I know he knows the area not many he doesn't .

I've wanted to so since I got a boat big enough to go just haven't made the trip due to lack of knowledge of the area. If u find any good info please let me know I'm interested in the same area. Also how big is your fuel bladder, what brand, and where do you keep it on your contender. I'm running a contender 27T looking at buying a bladder. Any info is appreciated.

PM Top Dawg or Brown Fin. They are members of the SWLA Fishing Club and sure they can help or know someone who can.

I have made numerous trips to the Flower Garden, but never from Cameron jetties. It is truly an awesome trip and I suggest if you go to bring dive/snorkle gear. Also, log on and find the waypoints to the bouys out there as you will need them to tie on to since we do not want anchors on the coral. Plan, then plan some more. It's been years since I have gotten the chance to go, but one thing we did on some of our last trips was pack a 55 gal drum of fresh water since our boat did not have a fresh H2O tank. That was heaven just to clean up a bit before catching some sleep on the deck.

Also, not sure of your boat's range, but you need to calculate it and check again allowing for bad weather.

Best diving I have done in the US. Crazy the fish they have out there. Make sure you don't have any spearguns on board.

FlagUS Flower Gardens Tuna

T - I have been fishing the Flower Gardens area for decades and there was never a big presence of yellow fin tuna. If you fish the East Bank itself it is so covered up with barracuda you won't be able to get a bait down. I was there this past weekend and caught Blackfin and grouper on the Three Sisters just East of there. If you want yellow fin you need to go east, Green Canyon and a minimum of 120 miles off the beach. The Auger Platform would be the closest place from Cameron to have a shot at Charlie. Hope this helps.

Capt. Mike -
