I bought 3 Caenans at the begining of the year and they still work like champs. But I generally just buy new reels every season so I don't have to fool with cleaning.

I fish a lot, I've bought abu garcias ambassadeurs, orras, revos, quantams, shimano, bass pro's brand, browning, I have had at least 20+ reels the ambassadeur c3 5500 was a good reel will last forever, the orras are decent and the revo is good, but you have to clean and oil them pretty often. my buddy has curados that are at least 15 years old he takes them apart and cleans them once a year, if his old curados are still working I don't know why I would buy anything else.

I've got some insight on Mettle's. First one I bought works smooth and flawless...not bad at all for the price. The second one I bought has a grind to it as you reel in. It is useless to me. My father bought one also that has the same grind to it. I think they are hit and miss with the Mettles. My Shimanos have all been smooth and hands down the best reels. I'd pull the trigger on the caenan before the mettle for sure.
