Startron. I have been using it in both boats. My 1986 Whaler with a 86 90hp Merc has been running longer. That and non-ethanol have kept the boats trouble free. No issues with the Whaler since switching over about 6-7 years ago. That boat sits longer and runs only about 15-25 hours a year.

Friend of mine bought an ethanol tester a few years ago and recently out of curiosity we tested gas from a non ethanol station since people were claiming they were scamming people....There was no ethanol in their gas and we tested it at a station claiming 10% and thats what it read...Out of curiosity I tested the ethanol gas again this time with marine stabil and the stabil turned the water or ethanol into a foamy looking liquid that I would think would make it pass through the fuel system like they claim....From what I saw I use stabil even though my gas doesn't sit long and I only use non ethanol....I used to use ring free and had to change plugs every 6 months....Maybe on bigger engines it may be ok but on my 3 cly. 70 YAM. it just didn't do....I use marine stabil in my generator and crank it up every 4 months or so and it cranks first or second crank for the last 5 years....

What about Stabil/Star Tron and Yammy Ring Free? Or is that overkill?

Default fuel stabilizer?

run stabil and Yamaha ring free. I buy ethanol free gas about half the time but also run that in my ztr and generator. I turn my gas off on generator and run it till it dies. Cranks on the first or second pull. I have my Dads generator that fuel has been in 5 or 6 years. Gas looks like varnish and won't start. I need to remove and clean carb to get it to run.

I do run both, just wanted to be sure I wasn't wrong. I try to only use ethanol free fuel.

This is not fuel stabilizer. Ring free only reduces carbon buildup. It's the same thing as techron in Chevron fuel

Maybe I should have made that more clear....Ring Free PLUS. Ran my kawasaki terex today for the first time since last deer season treated with it. Cranked up right away and ran great all day. I heard people say it is the same as techron. It may be similar but it is not the same.

It does not hurt to run the yamaha fuel conditioner or startron with ringfree plus......In my experience ring free plus alone works great.

Ringfree and Yamaha fuel stabilizer, with some non-ethanol.
Went non-ethanol on all chainsaws, lawnmowers, etc, only way to go.
