The reason I rooted mine was to overclock the processor and to get android 2.2. The evo has a pretty fast processor, but my droid ran at 550 or 600 megahertz stock. Now I run it at 1.1 gigahertz. Definitely helps. My next phone will be stock. I don't want another phone that has to be rooted to keep up with the newer ones.

It's way easier to use when on forums that support it. Gives you a better layout for navigation, pics upload easier to name a few.

I just left the Sprint store with a new EVO. I'm super excited about it.

At one point in time I would have disagreed with that, but I got my wife the iphone through verizon in March and it is definitely better than what I have. I don't know how it compares to the evo, but it is better than the motorola droid.

HTC EVO or what ever AT&T or Verizon has that is comparable is very nice, lots of people gettin away from I-phone for the HTC phones. How do you like Verizon, I am about to change over from Sprint.

Make sure Verizon has good coverage where you want to use it. In the past Verizon coverage was very spotty on Big Lake. That may have changed. Sprint in the past has always had the best coverage on the lake.

that's hilarious...sprint and verizon are one in the same. they share the same network. and att/tmobile/alltell are the same but on GSM, it would be more logical to switch from sprint/verizon to att/alltell/tmobile...

how do i do know this? because i have a rooted htc evo on SPRINT but use Verizon towers mainly....another perk of rooting. pow

Yeah im going to read into rooting. I've put together a couple custom pcs and used to overclock the vid card, memory and cpu. 5 fans in my last build. Any good recomendations on guides for rooting? I can find my way around software fairly quickly.

And what are the primary towers you use in Big Lake on your rooted phone? Sprint?

All I can tell you is that when I have been on Big Lake with people that used Verizon phones and people that had AT&T phones, I had better service then those 2 services in most parts of the lake.

I like Verizon a lot. I switched over from AT&T. I've been told Verizon is getting the Centennial towers that are outside of Calcasieu parish once AT&T completes buying out Centennial. That should help out the coverage. In Moss Bluff Verizon works great. The htc phones are nice. I played with a thunderbolt in the Verizon store a couple of weeks ago. It was nice but not as smooth as an iphone. Android phones can do more, but battery life and smoothness is better on the iphone.

no doubt verizon has better coverage, sprint has better plans.just dont expect major data/call reception just by switching to verizon( they share the same network , and almost everyone on sprint roams onto verizon towers from time to time. i just hacked mine to make it prefer verizon over sprint, and when verizon's not available , sprint.

att has best gulf coast coverage, well next to nextel. you can use both a good ways offshore(roam charges included of course)

I've heard the same thing. That will help out in SWLA for sure.
