The wet cells I buy, A/C Delco 29 series are about $110 apiece.. I think for the price they better than interstate which is more expensive. Same warranty..
AGM's are better.. Being a matt or gel battery they can take more vibration etc. But way more expensive.. I've looked on the Hull truth.. If U want AGM ...Sears as a AGM platuim marine battery.. The HT says this a top notch battery.. Just MHO.. I have one A/C delco 29 voyager in my small boat... Use it to crank and run trolling motor.. Still going after 3 1/2 yrs. |

I read where they are making a lithium troll motor battery now. Supposed to be about half the weight. Anyone know anything about this?

I replace mine every two years so that I never have to deal with one that dies. I buy at advance auto. They've got the best prices on batteries that have the specs I need. And if you Google advance auto coupon, you'll find coupons for 35% off or $50 off. Then you just pick up your batteries in the store.

I just buy
the cheapest liquid ones at Wal-Mart for $75 or so. Right at 6 years now and still going!

Never mind, just saw they were $800-1,000. Supposed to last at least 10 yrs.

Hopefully the prices on the lithium batteries will come down with time, I would love to take 150 lbs of lead out of the back of my boat ...

I bought two of these in March of 2014. Totally maintenance free. Check terminals periodically for tightness and for any corrosion. I have a 3 bank charger that stays plugged in year round while the boat is parked. No more checking water levels. This is the same price I paid a year ago. They were packaged really well and arrived with no damage. Only time will tell if it was a good investment but so far so good.

I forget what the "A" stands for but I think its for "applied" the "GM" stands for glass matt and its like a solid sponge so liquid isn't free to slosh around its the same basic idea as gel batteries so it doesn't leak or have "free flowing" liquid in it. in short its packed solid with fiber material so it only needs like 25% of the acid used in regular batteries because the matt takes up all that space and keeping the lead "wet" and not exposed to the air is the key. |

I got two Optima batteries from Amazon for a great deal. They are to biggest blue top that Optima makes. I got these for a Motorguide xi5 GPS model where I use the anchor lock function so the trolling motor get a pretty good workout. I can use these all day and they don't die.

Aren't those optima batteries bad for four stroke engines. Though I read that somewhere? Just wondering
