This is true I've made trips with guys after work (4-5pm) and still had time to make runs from calc pt to west cove with plenty of time to fish.

Does is piss you guides off when people don't show up on time or is it just another factor? Not like hours late but say 7am instead of 630

It does not bother me if they run late, im not one of those guides who likes to leave at 4am to get a spot at the fish bowl (weirs) , i can find a places to catch fish @ 6am 7am or 8am

Because i consider myself a good fisherman but if Big Lake sucks im not going to go to Sabine to fish

Im a big Lake guide and if i cant catch fish on my home lake they just not biting

But they might be jumping in the boat in Sabine but Sabine has there own guides for that lake

What He said ! And if this makes us bad guides then so be it .

I've appreciated the occasions where guides were willing to trailer their boats to get us closer to the action rather than beating us on a long, rough ride across open water or piling on lots of excuses why fish couldn't be caught on the relatively calm water accessible from their home port.

I've also appreciated when they've simply said, "They ain't biting over here right now, let me hook you up with a buddy on the other side who is catching fish."

The fish aren't always biting everywhere, and a good guide should be willing to either take the clients to where the fish are biting, or admit the situation and put the client with a guide who has access to water where they are biting.
I could understand this argument if it were say, Toledo Bend. However, for Sabine and "Big" lake, this simply isn't a good argument. If you want to drive to the east side, hire a guide out of heberts. If you want to stay on the west side, hire a guide out of spicers/hackberry.

If you want to fish sabine, hire a sabine guide. You can literally go just about anywhere in "Big" lake in about 20 minutes with a guide boat.

Sorry but if your are fishing with newbies, you are looking for a good experience, not the ability to catch your limit. I think u should convey that to the guide. That will make his job alot easier. I bring newbies on my boat all the time and everytime and after every trip I realize we ( more experienced fisherman) take for granted how hard it is to catch some fish.
