Yeh looks like around San Antonio. Those are some beauties. I would say both those deer would score around 150-155. They are some young deer for sure. i would say 2.5-3 yrs old. Tough call on whether to take them or not. Thats the difference b/w Texas and here. In LA, I wouldnt think twice about laying those 2 down. But in Texas, thats just young deer that could become MONSTERS. Those could both be potential 160-170 if u let them grow. Just gotta hope everyone in your lease is on the same page. Like last year on our lease in Laredo, TX, my dad passed on a nice 20-22" wide 8 point because he was young like these deer. The next weekend someone else shot him. He was chapped, had he known someone was going to take him, he would have done it.

If you aren't worried about someone else taking the 9pt then I would say let it walk as it definitely looks like a young deer with a lot of potential. Take the 10pt if it is a true cull buck as it is a nice looking deer as well.
Wish I faced your same dilemma! If you don't mind, pm me and let me know how much you are paying per year on the lease. My buddy has a big ranch in Pearsall, but he wants an arm and a leg to shoot anything on it and I refuse to drop that kind of coin on a high fence deer when I have a 165 on the wall that cost me nothing. |

I agree. Kill 'em, eat 'em and hang the horns on the wall.
Might die of old age or get hit on the road before next year. |

Good pics and nice deer.I don't see a 150 in the crowd though? The 8 looks like he will be 130 max and 4.5 old (after the velvet.)The score does not mean squat. The 8 is a purdy buck!

130 max? That deer is over 20" wide and its tall. At the very least, 140! I killed a 12 point in texas wasnt but 15 1/2" wide but tall and taxidermist scored it 127. It wasnt half the buck this one is.

As far as taking him, you're the one on the trigger. If he's a trophy to you take him, he's something to be very proud of. If you don't, also something to be very proud of! At least take some pictures if you don't!!!!! |

This is actually an 11 pointer my rancher tells me. He has a 6th point on one side that we can't see in the pics.

not much lately. They set a record over in San Angelo for 60 days with temps over 102 degrees. A hundred year old record!
