Thanks Gents, my fiance doesn't like to be in the kayak solo so I need a pier to take her fishing on. Just want to catch a few specs and maybe a red or flounder...of course I am the hardhead king, so I know they will be there LOL

I caught a nice Bull Red off the Cameron pier one day, weighed 28 pounds. Others on the pier said they caught them all the time. Had to have a big pier landing net to slide underneath him and pull him up. Luckily, some folks there had one or else I would have been screwed. Catfish there are constant. Caught the Bull Red on a big piece of squid.

When we get a dry spell [at least a few weeks] and the area up near I-10 gets salty....... reds a trout can be caught in Lake Charles [this is the lake just south of I-10.]

When conditions are good.....Trout and Redfish can be caught fishing off the seawall by the Civic Center. This area has some lights so night fishing possible. Fishing in a boat, I have done better fishing the area south of the Civic Center.
