Moon Phase and Tides
Winds were howling out the east too, fished out of coco. I did noticed that the few we caught were very lethargic. The trout would come out of the water and barely shake, I'd unhook and put them back in the water real quick, but hold them for a bit before letting them go. No more than 15 seconds out the water and they were rolling on their side and taking a bit to swim off - usually, we can pose for a pic with the kids and all that mess, and when you let them go they shoot out. Are the puzzle pieces coming together, or am I over thinking it??? I'd like to hear from some guides - y'all blow my mind with constantly putting fish in the boat no matter the conditions. Hats off fellas! Sent |

Man, thats a good question i was also wondering if the moon has any effect on the trout moving in close to the pass and moving back offshore. I know they come in to passes to spawn. with the water condition the way they are it seems like they should be stacked up on the outside. 2 weekends ago found some trout but in dirty water. Last weekend water was good but everyone posted there were no trout being caught on the outside.

This is a piece from the article above
Choosing The Best Fishing Times* There really is nothing complicated about this at all; it's just a matter of knowing ahead of time exactly when the sun and moon will rise and set. Fish are most active during 90-minute windows surrounding each of these four daily events; that's 45 minutes before and after these four daily points.*Fishing during these four periods will help increase your fishing catch, but if you plan wisely so as to ensure you're at the water's edge on the days of new or full moon, you can use these 'windows' to reel in a catch like you've never done before. If you have to choose between sunrise/set and moonrise/set, always go with the moon as the moon is the stronger influence.*Hunters have always known that fish and game are most active at dawn and dusk--sunrise and sunset--but their activity surrounding moonrise and moonset is less noticeable because these events are likely to occur without e*ffecting any change in the perceived light. The rise and set of a new moon is invisible anyway, and overcast weather often hides the moon. Without prior knowledge of setting and rising times, two of the best fishing times will be missed every day!* sent from my Galaxy NOTE II |

I was just thinking the same thing. Lol Maybe I can learn from a guide how to do that in VBay. I wonder if that's possible.

I think that is a misconception people have about guides. They have bad days too.

I should have said, i like to have the knowledge a guide has when they are go out on the water. This is something that I am currently working on learning. But how often they have a bad day compared to the leisure/ weekend fisherman. sent from my Galaxy NOTE II |

A long time ago a friend of mine told me there is no substitute for TOW. When I asked him what he meant he said "time on water". He was right.
