Default Info on Holly Beach.

Heading to holly beach this weekend to fish for a couple days. Haven't been down there in a LONG time. I'll be fishing out of my 16ft boat. Any recommendations on places I can try in my small boat. Lol. Any info would help. Thanks fellas

Are you going to try and launch from somewhere near the beach, or are you launching at the jetties and making the run over to Holly Beach?

If you are chasing specks, you are looking for clear water and bait action.

Chasing reds put a crab or mullet on the bottom anywhere and hold on.

If water clarity looks about the same everywhere, hit the rock lines a bit W of Holly Beach proper.

Last time I was there I noticed a boat launch by the ferry at the ship channel on west side. I will be launching from there. Chasing specks and reds if water not too rough.

We use the ferry ramp a lot, but there's another ramp on the E side closer to the gulf by the fishing pier that we prefer, because it shortens the run in our 16 ft boat. Keep your wits about you when running the ship channel. Lots of big ships and big wakes to contend with.

Buddy of mine told me about a boat launch that goes to Sabine lake. Launch is west of HB. Gonna give that a try if channel is too rough.

As you go west of Holly Beach on Hwy 82 there are 2 boat launches.

One is located on the north side of the bridge that goes over the Sabine pass.

The other boat launch is north of Johnson Beach. I don't remember exactly which road takes you to this launch. From this launch it is a few mile run to get into the Sabine Lake.

i dont think its legal for them to even make waves that big once in the channel. ive seen them do it many times before and luckily ive never been in a small boat to experience it.
