Default Cow Island or Henderson reports ???

Going somewhere in the morning and I am playing the great debate....Has anyone been or heard of anyone catching in Henderson or Cow Island. With the water high my gut is saying cow island. Thanks for any reports!

Wish I had some info for you but have not been fresh water fishing in awhile. I've seen a couple good brim catches coming out of henderson. what type of fish are you targeting? Im sure someone on here can help you out.

Cow Island for sure......why.......this could be the only time this summer that you can get in there without having to "pull over" the dam.

I've been hearing mixed reports in Cow Island for sacalit.. Some good ones with up to 40 fish and bad ones with only 2 fish. Got to find the right pattern for them I guess

Some clear water in cow island. Pretty sure that would be your best bet, won't have many opportunities depending on the river.

The dam is on the southeast part of the lake and there are two routes to get there.

To get there......About a 1.5 miles south of the Butte LaRose boat launch, there is a cut on the south side of the Atchafalaya river. This is called "Little Atchafalaya river".

Several years ago, trees blocked this route after a hurricane. I don't know if it is now clear to travel. If so, take this "river" about 2 miles and when you see a cut to the left, the dam is about 100 yards towards the lake.

The other route is to stay in the main river for about 3 miles past the first "Little Atchafalaya river" cut. When you come to the next opening on the right, this will be the lower end of "Little Atchafalaya river". Turn here and the cut to the dam will be a couple hundred yards up on the right.

The Atchafalaya river must be about 14.5 feet or above to "safely" ride over the rock dam. Any lower and you engine might hit the rocks.
