Triple Tail

So we ran upon a few triple tail this weekend and couldn't get them to bite anything.

What do baits and methods do yall typically use to target triple tail?

Has anyone ever tried shooting them with a bow? I've never heard of anyone doing that but being that they are pretty still and you can get close to them it would seem that it would be pretty easy. Is their anything illegal about this?

Live shrimp in a treble hook.
No weight
Or a gulp anything rigged them same. Nose hook it with a treble or khale hook.

Cut the roe out of a trout and put on smallest treble hook you got under cork

Take a couple of regular slip floats and paint them black. You want the float to hold the bait of choice in their face longer, but a bright float seems to make them skittish. Also, do not use a bright hook, whether Kahle or treble.

Thanks fellas.... We tried peeled shrimp under a cork and on a regular hook. They were on large mats of grass so there was no throwing past them and reeling it by them we had to get really close and jig it in front of them. Only one came close to taking it the rest spooked.

I can't find any place in the regs where it says its illegal to shoot them with a bow. Anyone got any advice on that?

Dont know why it would be illegal, just make sure they are 18" How far out were they?

I've been wanting shoot them with a bow for a while. I was on a grass line one day with no fresh bait south of FW city. Must have found about 25 of them but only got 2 to bite on gulp. Could have shot all of them with a bow.
