You can find Snapper and sometimes Dolphin around 35 miles out.
If youi want the rest of those fish, 60 or so miles and farther are best bet. There is a big artificial reef in the Vermillion/East Cameron blocks, that is prolly your best bet. The farther you go, the bigger the AJ's. I have caught a Wahoo at WC-269, but I think that was out of the ordinary. They usually hang out in deeper water. |

ling and triple tail can be caught anywhere from the jetties out. mangrove snapper and red snapper 40 miles. as far as wahoo, amberjack and grouper you'll probably need to go a good 75 miles, or get in at least 200 ft of water. you may occasionally catch closer but for a consistent bite you need to get out there pretty far. Dolphin vary with the blue water and rips, but usually any we catch that are over 15 or 20 pounds are at least 60 miles out. don't know where to get a good map but there are plenty of rigs out there.

Out of Cameron for amberjack and wahoo 70+ miles. I have caught wahoo at 40 and a sailfish at 25 miles but that was an accident. I usually don't drop a line in the water til I get 50 out. Unless I run across a good rip. Can always rig hop on the way in. In my opinion the best place to go out of is fresh water city. Water gets deeper closer in. I have caught amberjack 50 miles out of FWC and lots of snapper king ling etc. Good luck.
