Default Fire on the water?

Anyone know if it okay to make a fire on the beach? Also is there usually plenty of driftwood available in the holly beach to calc jetties beaches to make a fire.. or do you need to bring the wood with you?

Thinking of going down with my little buddy, and would be nice to have a fire to roast some hot dogs / marshmallows on while we watch the rods for reds etc...

Weve made a fire on Grand Isle beach. Sounds like a fun time.

Don't think there is an issue with a fire on the beach. Not sure on the driftwood though. A lot of stuff down there is creosote, so not good for roasting hot dogs, etc.

Most driftwood you find on the beach is slap waterlogged even though it looks dry

I know years ago we went camping on Rutherford beach and burned all the drift wood within 300 yards in both directions from our camper on the beach... Good times..

I think the only time you run into problems is if you are in one of the parks or management areas, then they have some "rules" n stuff you need to follow about it.

if your going to be on the beach I recommend bringing an old junk steel car rim to use as a metal fire pit so your not trying to build a fire right on damp sand, it makes a big difference.
