By-Catch,
Are there any Keepers in Big Alabama? I have fished there plenty of times and only caught 10/12 inch fish?? Can we get in the back waters with an 18 foot bass boat? After the bridge last time I went the water was about 20 inches after the bridge? Just wondering???? |

The water is up right now and should have no problems with an 18 ft boat. 3 out of the 6 I caught today were legal size but most days the fish have been smaller, don't think any restocking was done in that area.

Look on a map and about 4+ miles north of Whiskey Bay exit on I-10, take a right on Bayou Manuel road. Stay on that road until you come to the next road on the left [Refuge rd] and turn on it. When you get to the "T" in the road, turn left. The boat launch is about 1/2 mile ahead. It is a good concrete launch. Just watch out for the fallen trees when running your boat. |

Big Alabama Bayou is on the East side of the Atchafalaya river and about 3 miles south of US 190 hwy.
About 1.5+ hour drive after you leave Lake Charles. |

Went back this morning for a couple hours. Good bite early while the fog was in but stopped after it lifted and the wind picked up.
