I seen that on the news. Bad time to be without power for 2 weeks.
The folks with natural generators are going to be getting $1,000 gas bills. Thats not good for anyone. |

I live in Berwick, so it didn't affect us much, except for piling a few family members from Morgan city in my house so they didnt have to be without a/c during all this. Especially my wifes grandpa. I think they found him just sitting in the dark by himself.

UPDATE
from KWBJ news:
As of Wednesday morning, June 27, the power outage continues throughout Morgan City. Louisiana Energy and Power Authority and City crews worked through the night on restoring generation capabilities at the Joseph Cefalu Steam Plant. As of 6:00 AM, the assessment of the Plant's damages from yesterday's explosion are more extensive than the initial evaluation. The Unit #3 that was expected and needed to give emergency power to start up the larger Unit #4 has failed. It was running yesterday at the time of the explosion. Therefore, the new estimate for power being restored in Morgan City is late afternoon today. As soon as a minimal load is secured, City crews will begin testing circuits. At that time, you can expect that if your power comes on briefly and drops again, this is the testing of your circuit before all power is restored. Do not call the City to report that outage again. Along with that, City crews have supplied generator power to the sewer lift stations within the City to keep sewer services flowing. The City continues to request that residence minimize water consumption that flows into your sewer connections (toilets, bath tubs, sinks, etc.). This has no impact on your drinking water. |

LOL I was thinking the same thing. I hope he wasn't working when it happend. I'm sure they are working thier tails off right now. Wife is jumping through hoops to get things done and we have a few "visitors" until the power is back up. You would think they would just be able to get on another system or something. I hope they get it up soon, I heard it was 104 yesterday there.

Yeah yesterday. MC town hall handled everything very well from what I've heard too. Tim Matte the Mayor is a stand up guy and did the right things to make it as painless as possible and to accomodate those who needed it.

Yeah Tim is a real good guy. I am friends with his dad too. Turned out the problem was a transformer. Could have been real bad. Glad no one was hurt and everything is back online.
