Default Toledo 3-3-15

Headed up to Toledo Tuesday to see if I could find a few big girls in a small window of warmer temps. Greeted with heavy fog right out the launch limited me to hanging around Negreet until it lifted. Water temps early morning were 49 degrees. Did not boat my first fish until 10am and soon followed up with my second keeper 3 casts later. Beat up negreet pretty well until about 1pm when the fog lifted and ran further north. Highest the water temps got were 52 degrees in protected shallow flats. Boated a few more fish to call it a day around 230pm. Ended up with six 2-3lb fish.

All bites were reaction strikes or finesse tactics. Fished everything from 5-25 FOW... Low temps still have the fish staging to come up and prespawn is not yet in full swing around midlake. Need a 3-4 day trend of sunshine or temps in the mid 60s to get em going.

Crankbait... arent you fishing around yokum or arnolds??? Those areas should be ready to go soon. If you can swing a weekday you shouldn't miss a window like this week. Everything has been 10-25 ft with a few in the process of clearing beds in less than 4ft. But i suspect this week will be a game changer if the run off doesnt dirty up the water too bad.
