we caught alot of croakers in turners bay, by the island in the bay, the one thats all alone in the bay, on dead shrimp on the bottom, hauled in alot of croakers and picked up nice reds and a few specks. Threw the croakers back though, didnt know they were good bait for specks, I DO NOW THOUGH !!!!

they need to be smaller than what you catch on a hook and shrimp, you can use a sabiki rig tipped with tiny pieces of shrimp and catch the size you need, really need to drag a net for them or cast net.

i catch a few here and there in the cast net... about that size ??? 3-6" ??? and what about pogies??? i can catch them by the hundreds... what eats those besides hard heads ?

pogies are great baits for specks, during the summer you can murder the trout on the reefs with them, on the bottom or under a cork. they need a good oxygen system in the baitwell. The baitwell also needs to be round shape, no corners.

i'll buy one of the baitwells at academy, the 5 gallon bucket ones ... i threw my net 4 times on monday and had the net filled all 4 times with them... about 100 per time
