I have 2 curados and 2 citica reels. The Citicas for the price are hard reels to beat. Ever tried the Citica reels?

coastal diawas
I have two Coastals and I use them for speck and redfishing plus bass fishing and I find they hold up good and cast excellent. I think they do as good if not better than pfluegers. I can't compare them with shimanos because I don't like spending hundreds of dollars for reels. I can catch just as many fish on the cheaper reels and I find they hold up great. By the way I have been known to fish three to four times a week so this is how I do my product testing.

Are the shimanos made for the saltwater environment like the diawas? That was the main reason I bought them because I get back from fishing and I have a tendency to not hose down my gear like I know I should. Oh by the way i fish three to four times a week because I live 15 minutes from the bay and when the fish are bitting on the inside I can fish 4 times on a hundred dollar bill. One of the many advantages of owning a jon boat.

I have owned only 2 shimanos so I don't have extensive experience with them but this is what I do know. I have a curado 200cu and a calcutta that are both about five years old. I, like you, am not that routine with cleaning. Sometimes i rinse and oil, sometimes I do not. Probably clean half the time. These two reels still cast like they are brand new and that is fishing strictly in saltwater. I think they are worth an extra fifty but to each his own. |
