FlagUS No White Flags!!! N.O. Bound

Heading to New Orleans Friday to meet Steve Gleason and the Team Gleason crew... my wife and Steve have been talkin over the internet. Decided it was time to meet one another. Cant wait to meet him. He has raised soo much ALS awareness in the past couple of years. Also going to meet up with a family from Houston that is coping with this tragic illness. Makes me happy to see my wife get fired up about something!!! If u dont know who he is check out his website. I hope to be able to share some comforting stories about coping with the care of a loved one. I have battled some terrible demons in my past and overcome through God's grace. Hope I can be 1/4 as inspiring to them as my wife is to me. Will post many pics when i return on Sunday.

Frickin' awesome!!!! May you and your wife have a safe trip! Mr. Gleason is such a great role model for the all of us. Should be very emotional and memorial at the same time. I also find the spouses of people with ALS to be simply incredible. My past employment as a paramedic taught me how hard it must be as a spouse to someone with ALS. May God Bless all of you!

Trip to NO went off without a hitch. Friday we pulled up to the fantastic Windsor Court hotel. Just an amazing place. Sat woke up and walked around for a bit to enjoy the sites. About mid day a couple from houston came to our room and shared stories with us... talk about an experience. One for the books. Greg and Sha were an absolute blessing. about 4pm we headed to the roller derby arena to meet up with Steve Gleason. Truly an inspiration to be surrounded by ALS survivors and their families. Steve was a wonderful host and a stand up guy. We all shared stories and challenges... I was able to contribute a few tricks that helped my wife along the way!!! I really feel like I helped both Steve and Greg with a few "how to's"... Steve and Greg had wonderful spirits. They both have lost the ability to talk but didnt miss a beat with their computer systems assisting them. I really took alot away from this trip and so did my wife. The part that hit me the hardest was when Greg wrote on his phone "we are blessed bc God chose us to take this illness and be an inspiration to everyone... the only thing i regret is not being able to lay in bed with my wife".... tears were flooded in at that moment. I realized at that moment that not only was I blessed to have such an awesome wife, but I will ALWAYS.. no matter what... keep her in the bed at night with me for a little round of footsies. pic is my wife, Steve, and Greg at the end.
