Default Ever seen this happen

It's not good for the lower unit, I can promise you that. Getting a brand new lower hopefully this week or next, but have any of you ever seen that break? Anyone know what could cause that to happen?

If that an anode. The salt just ate it up. I read in an article that the anode should be cleaned with a wire brush. If it isn't clean well it won't work like it should

Looks like the bearing carrier assembly. I had one crack on my 40 merc last year. Changed the carrier as simply and $150 later up and running.
