Default Calcasieu River 2/28

Been getting ready for our newborn at the house, slipped out for the afternoon yesterday after getting a bunch of work done. Managed a few, and a couple of nice ones to top it off. God was on my side, he must know I won't be on the water for a little while. W/Red speed crawl, pulled them out of heavy cover. Ran south of White Oak, fished off of the main river.

Yes sir! That is freakin' pretty. Some hawgs there.
I see you're just as anal about using reel covers as I am... Lol.
Thanks for the report.

Does the "yyz" on your name refer to a certain bada$$ Canadian progressive rock trio who caressed their steel?

I was out there too. I went just north of serpent and caught my five punching the heavy grass mats next to the trees. Best one went 4lbs. I saw a bunch of snakes lying on top of the mats too! My main bait was a havoc perfection.

That place can make you want to high 5 your fishing partner or go home and sell all your gear !

Hang with it and you will eventually have one of those days to make you want to post about it !

Btw ... Nice catch Duffy !

Any body know how the fish will be around end of May on the Calcasieu? We're coming down for a few days mostly to ski, but debating also bringing the fishing stuff. Been years since I fished it
