Default 2/13 Houston River / Westfork

Launched at Anthony Ferry around 10 and ran all the way to the mouth of West Fork. Could only get bit with a jig. Caught 9 shorts, hooked 7 swamp donkeys ( I'm gonna start keeping damn choupiques and figure out how to cook them one was at least 3 ft long ! ) , 1 goggle eye, and 2 keeper bass.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1455407304.479971.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1455407313.865389.jpg

Wind was blowing until about 4 and water got up to 60 in some spots. West fork seemed clearer than Houston River.

Friend of mine makes fish patties wit choupique and der great. Mix the meat with boiled potatoes, bread crumbs, and seasoning. Coat in bread crumbs and fry. Almost like gar balls but with choupique

Everything I read says that they have the highest mercury levels of all the fish so I'll prolly just leave them alone....

We caught really good the other day north of white oak. Only fished for about 3 1/2 hr and caught 15 bass. Kept me 4 of the smaller ones to make tacos that night. Let the bigger ones go. Had one over 2lbs and a few others about 1.5 lbs.
kept the 3/4 pounders. I like the small ones.
Mainly caught them on speed crawls. But had some on spinner baits and Berkley Havocs pitching grass.
I'll be back out there Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.

Don't forget to cut the tails off and bleed them before you start processing. If you do attempt to cook them only use fresh ones...they do not freeze well at all.

we fished our summertime holes yesterday and only caught 3 dinks, looks like I will have to keep fishing our usual stuff and wait till summer to go up north and slam them on buzzbaits and frogs
