Default Calcasieu River 2/21/2016

Me and Gutwrench caught a few dinks at Calcasieu River today north of White Oak Park. The bass' eyes were a very orange/ red color. Never noticed that anywhere before.

More than likely if you were a good ways north of white oak you caught nothing but those. Yea you can catch some regular large mouth but for some reason the further north you get the more kentucky's you get. I think they prefer that current and sandy bottoms.

Yea there are kentucky's on the west fork. But there are typically more the further north you go on the main river. I find they dominate that area. Been fishing up that way for 25+yrs. I have a camp way up there and my parents live in the river. That is what I have seen over the yrs and from my experiences I think it holds fairly true.
