i would go out of southwest pass in the DAYTIME...

cast net mullet at venice marina, then fish chunk bonita also via drift lines

50 wides should work, make sure you using heavy fluoro leader

you'll also need lots of anchor rope unless you just drift which i saw people do before......

I have 400 ft anchor rope now but will have about 500 Ft plus 20 ft chain. Think that's enough or should be bring 600 total rope.

It's been awhile since I have been out to the rigs are you still allowed to use a rig hook to hold yourself to the rig or do you have to anchor and get your anchor caught in the pipes down below?

you can rig hook as far as i know

Do not tie off to any pipes, only the legs or structure.
You can tie off to certain rigs, but not any high production floaters.
