Default Flooded timber hunting near Lacassine area/Hayes

How Is the timber hunting for ducks in the area overall? Just woodies or do you see other ducks in the bag after a hunt i.e. mallards, grays, etc? Curious on how successful timber hunts are in the region and flights-mid am-late am (woodies early are a given). PM if would rather not comment on page. Thanks.

To the OP, only timber hunting I know of around there is off of Lacassine Bayou, and you can kill all kinds of ducks. Teal, grays, mallards, pintails, etc. It's also hit or miss from year to year.

Default Thanks

Thanks for feedback. I will be hunting the area and noticed a lot of members from the region. I have hunted rice fields and marsh and know what to expect in most areas of state, my timber hunting is limited to our farm and is almost 100% woodies. Will give it a try and see what happens. Looking forward to another duck season. Good luck this season to all. Cajunsim

Hey Cajunsim. I heard a man could have a near heart-attack this time of year walking around in the woods looking for these flooded timber spots . Especially if he decides to do so right after lunch.

Default wait

Yep note to self-self never go scouting in mid august at noon, in waders in the swamp LOL. Definitely wait till sept/oct but will PO some deer hunters. On a positive note I have doves and quail on farm and plants are coming up great. Should be interesting hunting on the new place, hope it turns out OK for ducks but again based on finding other blinds there makes me think it should be fine. Looking forward to making a few hunts there.
