Venice trout limit
He met at my house and we hauled the boat to Venice. Launched, got ice, and a quick 45mph run down the river and we were fishing. I brought shrimp but never used it. All plastic today. Started out slow. We had to wait for the trout to wake up. At the first spot we had not even a sniff. I was dissapointed because I have been getting good ones here for about 2 weeks and it has been getting nothing but better. We moved around and after a bit of work I landed the first trout. It was only 13 inches but it was the first and a keeper. It was still early and I was hoping the area would warm up and get the fish active. I moved to the entrance of one of the passes in 2.5 feet of water and Bobby hooks up to a small redfish that went back. A few more casts and I get a keeper redfish. Nothing to brag about but it went into the box. Shortly after that Bobby gets our first respectable speck. We played that area for about 45 minutes putting 7 more nice trout in the box and this redfish. We kind of put this fish out of it's misery. It had a broken back / bent spine and a hole in it's body from what looked like an arrow that it pulled away from. The area around the hole was healing up but still looked like something was growing around it. We got a fillet off the good side and only took the back half of the side with the hole on it. Man the rest did not look good. The bite slowed down and we moved around. There was a boat working some fish out in the middle, in 12 feet of water, so we got in the area and started getting some trout. These fish we quite steady so we sat there and let the good times roll. I have a counter on board to keep tract of the fish we put in the box. The bite kind of died off and we only had 43 trout. I moved the boat to my favorite place that we started at and after about 5 minutes Bobby brings in a nice trout. These last few trout were all consistantly big. I had the luck of bringing the last 3 in the boat in 3 consecutive casts. With our limit of trout in the boat we decided to go have a fish cleaning party instead of looking for reds on the way in. We put the boat back in the yard and prepaired the table for the slaughter. 50 trout, 3 redfish, and 1 black drum. Only threw back 3 reds and about 6 trout. Wish all 5 hour trips were like this. Life is Good! Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that. CAPT HOOP -- OUR FREEDOM |

Do not know but you can go for it. The trout are every where. Nobody fishing the jump. First diversion is a parking lot. As far as going to the pass I would not go past fish to find fish.
