powerpack?

Sounds like it could be the Stator that has gone bad.
I am not sure how to check them to see if that is the problem. |

Could be the stator, trigger,or the power pack. The only way to tell for sure is to get a manual and ohm test all the electric parts.

Ok good, i was hoping there was a way to test them

What HP?
Sometimes if it is the trigger, you get half the cyl. hitting and the other half no fire. |

Its a 25hp. Im gonna see if i can download a manual for it. Trigger? This sounds like no fire at all. Gonna try to check for fire tonight when my neighbor gets home. Somebody has to pull the rope lol

You pull the rope and let your neighbor hold the screwdriver!!

Well just put on a new powerpack and same problem. Put it on and ran it on the muffs for a minute. Went to try it out today and it started up and idled fine. Put it in gear went about 100ft and it cut off.......no fire since then. Does this sound like a stator? It will run for a little bit then somedays nothing.I have no way of testing the one i have now.

I think those motors have a sensor under the flywheel. Check to see if it is rubbing the flywheel. If it looks like its been rubbing try changing it.

Maybe a crank shaft sensor?

Im gonna take the flywheel off tomorrow. Everybody i talked to said stator or eyelit orsomething like that. All i know is i have no fire. And im almost positive both my coilpacks didnt go out together. It doesnt have a temperature sensor. And disconnected kill switch and same thing still no fire....

Not yet, ive looked online and cant find one. Was hoping someone on here might know a thing or two about these motors

Decided to pop off my flywheel and check things out and luckily i did. The stator and.timerbase were covered in oil/grease. Apparently my.crankshaft seal decided to go out on me. Gave everything a wipedown amd all my wired looked good. Stator and timerbase looked good. Nothing that stood out but that was my first time seeing them so that doesnt really say too much haha. Hopefully gonna order my parts tomorrow. Im not sure how it works exactly but do you think those parts being covered in grease were making it to where it didnt have a good connection to build up energy or whatever.

My guess......is that maybe the grease/oil was causing the wires to short out and your engine to die.
Clean it up really good to get all the wires and connections clean. Use a can of carburetor cleaner to spray up in places you can't get to. |

I wiped it down with gas but cant test anything till i get a seal. How would the grease/oil cause a short in the wires?

A hot wire [positive] could go to ground. Or.....the "spark" wire could go to ground and the spark plug would not get any "juice".

Generally regular grease will not conduct electricity , it would prevent the circuit from being complete between the flywheel and pickup . Always make sure to use dielectric grease on electrical components if needed ,and not regular automotive type.

So you're saying the grease is more than likely interferring with the pick up? If thats the case, what i think happened was while running the bearing went out and covered everything in grease which caused it to interfere with the pick up and shut off. If thats the case what would be the reason it sometimes starts and runs for a bit then shut off. If the grease was causing a problem wouldnt it never fire?

I wouldn't think the grease would interfere with anything because the pickups and stuff under the flywheel work off magnetism.
