Default Beautiful but tough day today in Vermilion Bay

Got a late start after spending about an hour catching bait at Marsh Island. Beautiful kind of smoky day all day today. Took off with our bait and got out to Tete Butte around 11:15 or so after the tide had been coming in for about an hour. We caught one nice speck and thought it would continue but only managed one other breakoff and some rat reds. Stopped at another spot or two around the Pass area and caught another rat red or so. Headed to a dam in Marsh Island and caught nothing. Finally ended up at the big tower at Dry Reef for the last hour or so of daylight and caught our nicest red of the day along with a keeper drum. Final tally, 2 reds, 1 drum, and 1 speck. Not much to show for having live bait, eh? Oh, well, it was a beautiful day to be on the water! Just expected to do a lot better with all the good reports we've been reading.

Damn that's a bummer. I'm gonna give them a try in the morning but without live bait, plastics and fresh shrimp is the BOC 2moro. Thanks for the report

I went out of ICY to the westside Thursday afternoon. Water was nice and I caught 7 keeper trout 13" -17" plus a couple of undersized. Quit early with plans of returning early Friday morning to get on em. Conditions changed and water was rough and dirty inside the Bay near Redfish Pt. I then headed inside lake Fearman for redfish. Landed one big one and something broke me off twice. Trout are there just need to get the right conditions.
