I got it at Duvic's in Harvey, picked the boat up yesterday evening.

the NFS40 looks great and the total came out to be $6,463 installed because they gave me the Nissan at the Tohatsu price since all the new 4 stroke 40/50 motors are on a two month back order now. its the remote version with the controls and tach and all that stuff with it.

the texas supply warehouse were completely out of the Tohatsu 40 and the Nissan 50's and the Tohatsu 50 but they did have three of the 40 Nissans left so they gave me on of those. as of last Tuesday they had only two left after I bought mine.

I need to pull the restrictor plate out and try to go do most of the break in time today if the weather holds

well I got the new motor broken in but needs a different pitch prop so I called the dealer only to hear "we don't stock aluminum props, they come with the motors and we only keep stainless ones in stock and only a few sizes of those but tell us the pitch you need and we can order it for you to be here by Wednesday", are you kidding me! but im on hold for the parts guy when the girl got back on the phone to say then they won't connect me to the parts guy to order a new prop because I need to talk to the salesman about it instead and he wont be back until tomorrow so Im left expecting him to tell me I have to pay for another prop or at least a restocking fee or shipping or something but I know if I gotta talk to the salesman its because they don't want to swap it out for free. im assuming all this because they never said it cost anything but if its free then why the holdup to talk to the salesman first?

I was prepared to leave the dealers logo on my motor if I got good after sale service but im gonna peel it off this evening after this because I see no reason to leave it there

the installation service was good

after that im not so sure

yep, seams like they all act like you slept with their sister after the motor is paid for.

one bad thing (sorta) is this motors mount is different and doesnt have the threaded holes for the transom screws and I was using them on the old motor for my pick stick mount its a much cleaner look to it but I found a use for those things and they are gone now so a complete redesign is needed on my jerry rigging setup lol.

ohhh lol

I was too busy playing to take pictures, I was all up underneath the console hooking up the wires for accessories and depth finder last night and I gotta go retest the boat because " some idiot" was so exited to go run the new motor he forgot to open the gas tank vent and that Nissan fuel pump literally sucked the portable plastic tank into itself until the bottom was touching the top.

I should have took a picture of that but I was too busy scrambling to pop it back out before it got permanently deformed. it looked like a water bottle after you squeeze all the air out of it and put the cap back on. the top and sides came back out but the bottom is still indented half way to the top, gonna refill it today and the weight of the gas should push it down I hope.

I don't get too excited about taking pictures of boats and motors and vehicles but I definitely should take one good picture of the new rig while its new because they don't stay looking new for long

Why do you think we buy from Lake Area, you don't need a kiss after dealing with them. They treat you the same if not better after the sale

Close the tank vent, and put the tank in the sun. It won't take too long for the gas vapors to expand and the tank will back to normal shape.

Don't forget to reopen the vent!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE:

love the motor, its super fast and runs great.

I want to add a warning to others who get this motor, it is designed to be mounted a lot lower then the bottom of hull.

proper mounting position for the motor based on the owners manual is:

ENOM0026-0
Transom Matching
Be sure that the anti ventilation plate of the
outboard motor is 10-30mm (0.4-1.2in)
below the bottom of the hull.

that's 3/8" - 1 1/8" below the hull

when I got my motor the dealer mounted it just above the bottom of the hull so I had to drop it down all the way 2 holes so it sits flat on top of my 20" transom to be in the correctly mounted position.

some dealers are better then others but AFAIK most motors still recommend the cav plate be even with the bottom of the hull so a dealer may install this motor "as usual" without realizing in that position it will be mounted too high based on the mounting instructions.

naturally this doesn't apply to using jack plates and the hull design and other factors may change the hull and cav plate height relationship but for the average "basic" hull design I think the manual recommendations should be followed so I wanted to pass alone this "change" made to the normal mounting position rule of thumb people have gotten used to.

That motor may not be the all time king of 40 hp motors, but I guarantee you it's the king of new 40 hp marsh motors. I put that thing through the coonass torture test yesterday. I finally plugged the water pump idling in 5" of muddy water. I had to push pole out, my 82# motor guide wouldn't move the boat.
For comfort and shallow draft, that boat is tough to beat. It may not be the fastest hull on the market but I'll settle for a little loss in speed. With a full fishing load, 2 people over 200 pounds, all gear, it runs a solid 36-37 mph through the marsh, I'll take that all day long.
