Default VB Bounties

Vermilion Bay gave up a bit of it's bounties yesterday for me and my boss. We went out for opening of shrimp season and we were blessed with a few shrimp. Battled the rough water across the bay to the shores of Marsh Island and was able to enjoy a peaceful day of trawling. Also caught something I had never caught in net before, a pretty good sized garfish. I was pulling a 16' trawl so don't think we did too bad.

Nice haul!! I have a 16' trawl also and can't wait to go give it a go. Looks like you were close to your limit, most I have caught is 50lbs in a day.

Oh yea... you would have killed them with a 25'. probably doubled your catch. Still great trip though.

Since shrimp season opened Monday, I was wondering if anyone has been and is willing to give a report. I'm thinking of going next week with a bud from "Nawth" La. who normally makes one trip a year with me.

Anyone have shrimping reports for VBay? Looking for any information since the opener, preferably with a 16' trawl.

Thanks.

I'm more interested in where I can catch a garfish. Preferably with a 16' trawl.
