Default North of tracks

Has anybody fished north of the tracks at the I-10 launch. I know it looks shallow. I've seen a few boats in there over the years but never really heard anybody talk about it.

I fished there the day the fog was so bad.
Caught 2 Reds and 6 Specks.
It was pretty slow...

How hard is it to get your boat in there?

It wasn't hard. I fished solo. It can be done.
I launched under the I-10 bridge and fished the LC Yacht Club area and right above the RR bridge, all the way to the s.w. barrier.
Most fish were caught on the East side of the channel where that marsh flows into the channel.

are you talking about the marsh or the channel?? I wouldnt go with any kind of bay boat and attempt to get in that marsh. There is some serious structure under that bridge that you wont see unless the water is low. If you are talking about the actual channel to the SW barrier.... then it is easy and they can swing the bridge for larger boats.

I fished where the marsh empties into the channel. The farther North I went, the less fish I caught.
Best spot was from the marsh area to the yacht club.
I launched at I-10 and trolled around with trolling motor. Went under RR bridge, barely fit cause of tide. Pretty much trolled the bank all the way to the marsh cut.
All on topwater. Didn't try anything else.
Last time I fished in the fog, I tore them up on topwater. That time it was slower.
Fog has been my friend when it comes to topwater.

I-10 Launch under the bridge ain't the best in town, but it was launchable.
If I were you, I would launch at the public launch in Westlake, on Miller Ave.
Much better launch.
