The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is preparing the Isreal LaFleur Park boat and kayak launches for re-opening Saturday December 19th, 2015. The facility, also known as the I-210 boat launch, has been closed due to construction of the Cove Lane Interchange on the interstate.
The facilities have been closed since March, 2014 to allow equipment on the property for the contractor constructing the new interchange.
“I’m excited the boat launch is re-opening for the sportsmen of Calcasieu Parish,” said District 8 Police Juror Guy Brame. “The kayak launch has become extremely popular and the LaFleur Park launch is a great facility for that. After listening to our sportsmen, we know how important this launch is for outdoor recreation.”
The beach at the park will remain closed due to erosion issues until a final remediation plan can be developed.
Temporary restrooms will be available at the launch.
