I'd do the replica mount on a 10 or better, I know it's not gonna be Steve German quality, but it's free.

Keeping one to mount isn't a good excuse either. Replicas look better, last longer and the fish lives to fight another day. Possibly for one of our kids to catch.

Not an excuse, it's a choice. To say a replica looks better than an award winning Taxidermist like German, I don't think so.

A plastic fish is as bad as a plastic participation trophy they give to loser kids nowadays.

I see both sides here and I see a lot of pot stirring here lol. If it's my first couple trips of the year, I'll keep some bigger. I did release one on sabine a few weeks back that looked like she was about to pop. See what that gained us? Lacassine has no size limit so it's each person's choice. Everyone has their own opinions. Myself I prefer 2-3# for eating and you're still putting a hurting on the spawn. Maybe they shouldn't open the pool til June. At least they've dropped their eggs by then. Or let's get them to make it a 10-14inch size limit.

I like to drive across the lake during the spring, catch bass on their beds, throw them in a livewell all day, carry them back to the boat ramp, take a bunch of hero shots, and then release them 5 miles from where they were caught. They will find another place to spawn and will not be stressed at all. Gotta post them Facebook pics baw. Can't be keeping them fish baws. Just take pics and release them

Back to the subject of this thread, anybody ever heard of the Hawaiin Wiggler bait, kind of a cross between a top water and a spinner bait, could only get them at E&M Sporting Goods, on Ryan St. Caught some nice ones in Lacassine on it.http://image.invaluable.com/housePho...-L77184183.jpg

That was a great bait. There was one made similar to that that had 2 blades that worked well also.
