Default Shooting Lanes.

FLiesitdies has a spot to hunt for deer and squirrel in Covington that I can hunt too. Its a little overgrown and its not very big and a person can still get lost easily. I'm wanting to cut some trails and shooting lanes. This is a bow only place. How wide and far should we (I) make these lanes? Also, anyone recommend a good hanging feeder and camera? Need to put some out to see what we have out there. Thanks.

Remember......Location......Location.......Location......i s the most important thing to look for when chosing a spot to hunt.

After finding a spot...... there must be a good tree or thick bushes to provide a good hiding place so the Deer won't see you. I like to be 15' to 20' high while bow hunting.

Cutting Lanes........ I would only cut a few limbs to open up "spots" to take a shot. I don't like to cut "Lane". To Me....Lane are not "natural looking" and may spook the deer or the deer will be much more "on the alert" because to them...."something is not right". After cutting any limbs, I haul them away from this area. This is so that I don't leave any "signs or sent" to alert the deer that something has changed this area.

How much to cut...........

This depends on how thick the woods are in the spot you choose. I like to hunt a spot where I can see the deer a good ways before it come into bow range. This way I can be ready when it comes into range...... Usually under 25 yards. Don't cut any limbs that are close to the tree you will be hunting from [unless you really have to] .... this is your "camo" to help hide your presents.

Well put Mr Gerald. Bowhunting is a whole different ballgame, bowhunting will teach you how to hunt, once I get a stand hung I cut very few limbs, only what's necessary.

primos35 is a good camera for under 100 bucks. there are better ones but you will pay for them. and im not all about spending 400 bucks on something electronic i leave in the woods. for feeders dont buy anything else but moultrie. they make one for 50 bucks that is awesome. find a old plastic drum and mount it on there. trust me ive been through every feeder known to man and that lil moultrie is a beast. i have batteries still in mine from last august that are still going and some that are 3 years old that havent left the marsh since they were new and they still sling feed.

Thanks. I'm a rifle/shotgun hunter but I'm looking into bowhunting alot more. Theres a whole lot of little pines and some briars that need to come down for there to be at least 10 feet of open shooting. I hunt for meat.
