I have a friend that has a 115 Opti on his Ranger. No issues with it. It is 8 years old, I think. |

Biggest issue with any opti is coil packs and lower unit's....but just like any other brand there is always the possibility to get a lemon. Dealer usually charges a hour to an hour and a half. Most shops are around 85-90 bucks a hour.

Great motor. Bring it to Freddie Breaux in Henderson. Right next to M&M tackle shop. He has a Merc computer and will tell you if anything is wrong.

I had a pair of 225 opti. They were 2004 models. The made 3000 hours, but we did that in 4 years. Pretty decent power wise, but man they burned a ton of gas a oil. They are also super super loud compared to the four strokes.

We have that exact motor, we are probably pushing about 500 hours on it right now and so far no problems except our trim relay just had to be replaced last week. Besides that we like it. It isn't as quiet as the four strokes, but who doesn't like the sound of power... Lol

I have a 90 hp Opti and I am guessing the hrs are around about 1000, due to fishing crabs and trot lines with it. I have had 2 major problems with it in the 7 years I have had it. When the motor was still under warranty, an oil line came off for the air compressor and cause the air compressor to lock up. Replaced the air compressor and it ran fine until last month. I used it to hunt alligators with my uncle and it was giving me an alarm like it had trash/water in the fuel. After changing the fuel filter and cleaning the fuel port, I was still getting the alarm. It got to where it would not run except in safe mode, so I idled 2 hours to the landing and brought it to the shop. They found the oil level switch in the tank had malfunctioned saying the level was low, although the tank was actually full. Going pick it up tomorrow. Repairs aren't cheap but for the time I have on it, I can't complain.
