That will last 2yrs....then they'll be no more...and no more oyster jobs for this area....the best thing the commercial fisherman can do is fight for limits for their future....they shut down oyster season early this year due to lack of oysters....

So the question is, what can we do as a 5,000+ member website to keep the limits and restrictions that are currently in place?

Sulphite this would be more like 2 steps forward and 10 steps back.

I thought it was a bill up for debate not yet passed? If so then there are people we should call and talk to. One being Raymond here on the site as it relates to CCA, they (CCA) pushed the issue for us last time which was very much appreciated.

This one may be hard to kill since Moorish filed the bill and he filed the legislation last year for the change.

It is out of the Senate and in the House, so contact your Representative and see where they stand on it.

I'm not sure if anyone has ever posted this study, but if you want to know the effects of oyster harvesting on our ecosystem, wade through this study. The conclusions of the study may not help us, but if you look at the differences between the south end of the lake compared to the north, it is easy to see how over harvesting will impact recreational fishermen.

Wish I would have known about this. It is easier to get it killed in committee. Maybe can get some amendment tacked on that would make it less palatable to them.

What we don't need is blow hards and threats! Public support is welcomed but threats get us nowhere. The entire state needs to contact their legislatures and explain the situation and ask them if it was in there backyard would they support a free for all on any public resource. Those of you in Shrevesport,Lafayette,Baton Rouge,Alexandria,Monroe should call your state senators and reps. Let them know you fish Calcasieu Lake and what sen Moorish is trying to do. Support the guy or gal who runs against Moorish next trip with $$$ not your mouth! I would vote against my Dad if he pulled this $hit and tell him so. I will have no other comments about this situation.

We contacted Dan Morrish last year and he push a Half azz permit bill which he reneged on once all the bootleg oyster fisherman went cry and protest on his door step...

So you think us calling our local reps is going to do a damn thing???

Hell no....the bill will push that the oyster fisherman are poor people who need to work and if we limit permits were killing jobs in La...

So if you think a Rep going to kill jobs over fisherman and protecting resources your out your damn mind

Maybe we should of used our Power to stop oystering rape instead of 15 trout limit
