Default Toledo Bend Help

Guys I should arrive home from Afghanistan Friday and hope to fish Saturday. I assume most of the Bass are on post spawn pattern.

Have the Crappie started moving shallow in the mid lake area?

Man on the south end I'd say it's just now right in the middle of it (some in post, some in pre, some on beds). Guys were catching big females deep staging this past weekend that still had small, not fully developed sacks. There are some that have already spawned out but the majority are still moving up. Water temps have been there for em for the past few weeks or so, but I think they're a little late this year (super high water). Usually you can judge it from the first full moon in April will be the biggest push of spawners up (It was this past weekend). Not sure on Crappie, but covered a good bit of water this past weekend trying to sight fish, and saw just as many big crappie on beds as I did bass. Again all on south end. Supposed to rain a good bit this week so I imagine most of the mid-lake to north end will be muddier than usual. If you don't mind me asking, were you in Afghanistan for work or duty?

I fished mid lake just north of Pendleton Bridge Monday and Tuesday. The bass are on beds. I caught a good amount of bass on Watermelon trick worms and brush hogs. There were alot of people Crappie fishing. A few were being caught during the day, but the majority were being caught at night under bridges. The water is clear with water temps in the mid to upper 60's.

Crappie are tough right now. We caught a few on jigs over 14 - 18' of grass. Some being caught on brush piles with shiners also. Still catching at night also. Think everything is a few weeks behind where it should be now.

I hope to go back next week. Remind me and I'll post another report.

Default Toledo Bend help

Nice mess of fish... Looks like y'all had a catching time. Some good eating in that cooler. I may head up next week on Monday for a few days.
