I just shoot 3's. Little more forgiving than the 3 1/2's on the shoulder/cheek. However, I do keep a handful on 3 1/2s in my bag just incase some geese are low in the marsh. As someone stated, 3 1/2 doesn't give you more distance.. For that, I have my extended full paternmaster! (atleast it makes me feel more confident, thats what counts right? lol)

Shoot a box of them. You won't want anymore of them.

Even in a gun as heavy as the bps? I kinda like the versitility of being able to shoot all 3 types of shells.

What did all you guys do before 3.5"? I guess I 'm another that agrees that even though its kinda cool, its not necessary.

On a lease we hunted when were kids there was an old man that had a single barrel 10 gauge, thermos of coffee and a yellow lab. He would just park on the road and sit on his tailgate and you would hear that cannon go off.
He regularly ended with a limit of birds one cup of coffee and one shot at a time. |

Surely I'm not the only one that shoots decoyin geese and ducks now days?? That's really the only way to shoot em and you don't need 3.5 to kill em. Your always gonna have cripples every now and then but not often when they're close. This was a 2 3/4 #4 this mornin.

It is a no brainer to get a 3 1/2" gun over a 3" but stay away from that 26" barrel. Your hunting partners ears will last a lot longer! lol As far as camo vs. synthetic, I prefer the camo but you need to be a little careful with it. Mosquito repelent can take the finish off of the camo guns. My Maxus has a bone colored spot where my cheek rides due to repelent. That still wouldn't stop me from buying the same gun again. It has been the best gun I have ever owned.

Mostly shoot 3", 1-1/4oz 4 and 3, name brand does not matter to me. I keep a few 3.5" shell with me just in case we have to unload/skybust on some geese!
