Yall gonna be ad ad when a Texan shows Yall boys wassup on this gumbo game. If yt? think a La address is the determining prerequisite in cooking a roux or a gumbo, Yall are gonna be very disappointed.

Gumbo must be fowl based. Chicken, duck, turkey, guinie (spelled that wrong) along with sausage, tasso, etc. No seafood.
$20 entry
Cook own rice.
Veggies and meat can be cut up before hand. Everything else is done on site. Roux included.
3 judges. Anonymous judges.
Cooks don't see judges and vice versa.
When its judging time you fix a cup for each judge with your number on it.
If you don't place 1, 2, or3 you have to pay $200 sc cash to 1st place. $100 sc cash to 2cnd place and $50 sc cash to 3rd place.
More ideas guys?

I say let ALL the eaters be the judges. Charge a certain amount for tasting, and give everybody that buys tastes a way to vote for their favorites. I also like the idea of $1 a cup. give em a ticket to vote with for every 3 cups they purchase. Cook team with the most tickets at the end of the day wins. But I'm down with the rest of the rules. Also Feb. sounds good to me

Actually you can have the tasters vote "Peoples Choice" and have a few real judges for more fun.

We may not need to invent our own. Why not join in this crew, at least as a preliminary warm up, especially if the real content might not happen until Dec or Feb?

I'm more of a taster than a competitor here, but I've got the 26th marked for some good eating. Please post here if you're plan to compete in this cook-off and I'll work harder to shake loose from the usual children's stuff and other events that crowd fall weekends.

Wanted to at first then looked at the calender. 6 hours on the road for me on a Sunday. If it were a Saturday I would be there. Was really disappointed with it being on a Sunday.

I'm in depending on timing. My business is right across the street from Parish Brewery. I doubt we could run out of beer. I will give them a shout and maybe they can open their doors and even participate.

One day, I will meet Sig and bow to his presence!
