Default Chokes

I've been shooting a normal imp cyl choke alll my life 15yrs + and think of getting an extended range choke. How big is the pattern difference and how hard is it to adjust. I shoot ic for everything and deadly at short range but long range not so efficient. Tia

Ported reduces recoil an there alil bit more expensive, so IMO there's no diff between ported r non ported unless u want to reduce some recoil.

I didn't believe the hype until I shot someone elses gun that had a patternmaster. It really does make an excellent pattern with steel shot. If you decide to go that route though, DO NOT get the extended range. It was made for one thing, skybusting. The mid range is perfect IMO. Mine is not ported, but I honestly don't think porting does anything

From shooting an ic all my days then going to pm mid range how much more on my game do I need to expect to be from devoting birds to 50yd flybys? Is extreme difference should I practice ALOT? I'm think of getting one tomorrow if I can get enough reviews and good feedback!!

I doubt it's going to be a huge difference. As far as praticing, I wouldn't worry about that. The reason I like my choke is because of the uniform pattern. With my factory choke, there were big gaps in my pattern. With this patternmaster, its very uniform. Even for shooting decoying birds, the mid-range is not too tight. You have to be on, but in my opinion you need to be on no matter what choke you shoot

That's basically what I was asking. If I shoot like I normally shoot with ic choke would I be ok as far where i put the bead on the bird, or should I need to makes adjustments on catching a bead or just catch a bead like always did.

Dont get me wrong I've shot birds at 50yds with improved cyl before but lately I've been told a mid range pm makes remarkable difference especially for weary mallards and specks. True?

Don't think, just point. Your brain will move your arms where they need to be. You will be fine swapping chokes

I use the Patternmaster extended range and its a winner in my book . Only thing is if they are really close you dont have to worry about cleaning them ,it does it for you .

I have the mid range hevi shot which is ported on all of my guns. As you guys know I am new to the sport but my shots have improved greatly and I have fewer cripples. I did not notice a difference in recoil.

I have tried all the different after market chokes from Duck Commander to Patternmaster and I always end up back at my trusty ole "stock" modified choke. Got a cabinet full of after market chokes that I don't even use. Maybe you should try just using a modified instead of improved cylinder. Improved cyl more for skeet and doves IMO. Only time I might use my pattermaster is later in the season when the ducks aren't working as well.

I only have one Patternmaster for the newer generation Benelli thread patterns (SBE II and Vinci). I wanna keep that one. But I have at least 1 Patternmaster and 1 Duck Commander for the older guns (SBE I and M1) that I would be willing to part with. Sucks that they changed the thread patterns. My M1 has a modified choke permanently stuck in it. I have tried everything to get it out. Only thing they could do is cut it out so it's staying.
