I knew a guy that had two silver lab puppies when he let his 2 chocolate littermates to close to each other when the female was in heat....I personally don't want a dog that takes a little sister twister to make.

I have taken bits and pieces of advice from Raymond Little on dogs and the major theme is "when you start breeding for a specific color and not for genetic traits you are getting exactly what you are paying for"

Exactly! It's science! A simple Punnet square will tell you, labs have B, E, or b. They don't have any other pigments.

And theres nothing wrong with that. But if you want a pure bred Labrador it's either going to be black, yellow, or chocolate.

Lot of folks out there like to be different from the norm and that is cool. Folks also don't like being taken down the river. So when they pay big money for a "silver" lab, they will argue all day long that their lab is really a lab. Even though it isn't. What is most concerning is that breeding for certain colors will be the downfall of some great blood lines. People want a groovy rainbow colored lab instead of good genetics. Who cares if it has bad eyes, and bad hips? The damn thing is rainbow! Gimme a high five bro!

This statement makes no sense at all. Like I said earlier my puppies litter consisted of all three colors. Mom was black and dad yellow. So how are the blacks in that litter more pure than the chocolate or yellow.

Hair color does not make someone superior.

Please do a little background on labs. when they used to be bred strictly for hunting the yellows and chocolates were culled at birth.

First, we are not talking about someone, we are talking about labs. Second, It's not about hair color. For years and years the black lab was it. If it wasn't black then it got culled from the litter. Your bloodlines go back the furthest with black labs because that was all that was allowed to survive. Hence, superior bloodlines. Your yellow and chocolate dogs all have bloodlines from black labs, black is the dominant gene by the way. Next they started keeping the yellows but were still culling the chocos. Chocos were the last and have the shortest pedigrees.

Disclaimer: This was a very short version of history just to steer you in the right direction for you furture research on the lab.

Edit: Looks like Top Dawg and I were typing at the same time.

I believes TD is tryn to say that there are more gentically sound black dogs than any other color. While true, it is primarily because there are more of them and the law of averages kicks in. The best dogs I have ever trained have all been yeller with the exception of 2 brown dogs. Preformance in the pedigree is your best chance for preformance in the offspring. BRB (Back Yard Breeders) couldn't read a pedigree if it bit them in the butt. FYI, the easiest way to tell if the breeding is crap "Champion Blood Lines" & "4 generations of Field Champions" are usually the lead in the advertisement.
Yes you are right about that but Hare Style IMO does.

HIGH AND TIGHT REGARDS,

So how is the black pups in my dogs litter more pure than the yellows and chocolates? They have the exact same pedigree.

Uhhhhh, no one is talking about your litter except for you. Let remind you again, your entire litter comes from black lab bloodlines.
