All ****tin aside u most likley had a bull shark. Exact same thing happened to me around this time last year at Burns Point fishing from the bank. Got cut off and spooled on red fish rods. Went back next day with my snapper rods, braided line with wire leaders. Brought 2 to the bank hooks pulled but made a positive id and put one 3 footer in the ice chest.

Possibly a tarpon, but probably a king. Even a shark probably wouldn't have broken the wire, but something on your rig could have failed. king were thick last weekend offshore where we were, and I've seen them as close as 2 miles out.

Could have been the occasional tarpon. I've seen them jump a few times throughout the years on big lake

Either a shark, Spanish or King, but I am not sure how big Spanish get.
