Reef Report
Mike; who is the Assessor of Acadia parish buys it each year. Him and his dad met me about 6 am in Abbeville. Made it to the bay the wind is out of the ese @ about 10-12. A good 2 chop met us @ the 4 mile. Made the pass and got into smooth water. Made it to my favorite reef to see mullet in big bait balls. Dropped trolling motor. Good outgoing tide. 10 minutes later first trout. Trout wanted glow/chart baits 20-24" under cork because water was a little murky. Vis: was about 6-8" @ best. Got better as morning wore on. Finally dropped anchor: Got the Goss lined out. Ended the morning with 18 really nice trout 2-3# and 1 redfish. When the tide went flat. Tried other reefs, but; no go. As the water was bad to the east. The Triton eat up the 2' chop going out and back in to ICY. The Duce rod with 12" seaguar abraz-X did the ticket for me. I really love my 7' Duce. The Abraz-X is an awesome Florocarbon. |

Excellent Report for those of us pondering a trip to VB and the reefs.
The Satellite pics lately have a glow or reflection, probably related to positioning when taken, which makes looking for small areas of clarity around S. Central LA almost impossible. |
