A
Snapper are like ants in the gulf and are more plentiful than almost all species in the Gulf

I live half my life offshore and see maybe 1-3 boats on weekends fishing and 1 out of 5 weekdays (maybe)

You don't see a ton of sea turtles but I have seen a lot over the years

You can not use explosives with in 10 miles of a sea turtle (I think)

I think that snapper were here along time before there were platforms so that can't be the argument to keep them, but also I think that they thrive off a platform by the ecosystem an established platform has. I know that is a contradictory statement, but what do our opinions matter in politics involved with this anyway.

i mean at least let people know when one is being blown and let them pick up the dead fish. all they are doing is feeding the damn sharks and we dont need anymore sharks.

I know of no vessel that draws 50' of water. Why doesn't the Feds allow us to P&A the wells and then "reef in place" ever one of these in water depths >80'. We can the piles 50' below the water surface and have a hell of a reef for a long time.

There are a few places like that around. Don't know how they got that way. May have been some of the storms.

Our company still has work on the books to recover platforms in water blown over from Katrina and Rita, so yes I know they are out there. My question is, why can't we just cut the legs 40-50' below the water line and put a floating bouy marking it as a reef. The trawlers would see the bouy and stay clear, so no damage to their nets, the vessels would see the aid to navigation and stay clear, and the eco system would continue to thrive.

Too simple. I know of some rigs and wrecks that are 200 ft below the water and unmarked. They are on my electronics though.

Stop the madness and destruction of habitat.
Sent 100 emails today including my member of Congress and signed both petitions.

Why so few people signing these petitions? Are we just a bunch of website whiners?

DID YOU DO YOUR PART TO STOP THIS STUPIDITY? IF NOT, GET AFTER IT. MAKE SOME NOISE.

NO HABITAT = NO FISH

Me too Capt - but around 170 ft, knife Jigs, full limits in 30 mins. Just hate to see the established habitat totally destroyed with ZERO regard for the longer term implications.
