Earlier in this thread...one of your 1st post you basically said a GED was ample enough to get a job classified as an engineer...

now this comment about GPA.... apparently this is a competitive position since over 300 people applied for 12 slots..

The laws of supply and demand are always in play. Lots of demand and little supply will lead to the hiring of engineers with more poorly documented qualifications. Little demand and oversupply will make the process more competitive.

There is no contradiction in the idea that under some conditions a GED plus some college engineering coursework and a decade+ of relevant experience can sometimes be sufficient to land a job with engineering in the title, but under more challenging conditions and job requirements, one might need a good GPA in addition to an engineering degree.

There are a variety of different situations being discussed, and my comments were addressed to different situations.

With a process plant degree you can get a job as an operator straight out of school, or at least the chances are much better compared to a student coming straight out of school with an instrument degree.

$100.00 bucks says if/when W interviews, he won't get the position anyway and these multiple pages of drivel will be all for nothing.

Just my opinion. But you're crazy posting that pic. That could hurt you actually. HR departments are weird about this kind of stuff.

Exactly, just one of a myriad of examples why he won't get hired.

So does this mean that all of those engineering degrees from Texas A&M are a FARCE?

a farce is a Comedy -that aims at entertaining the audience through situations that are highly exaggerated, extravagant, and thus improbable.[
