Jigging Spoons over deep water 30ft Plus.
Locate baitfish with electronics, bass will hangout underneath. Get on top of school and drop jig top bottom and work up and down. |

wish i could remember where exactly it was ,buddy took me to a cove mid lake / louisiana side that had a old road bed that once had a bridge on it. Bridge is gone but the creek still splits the old road bed. Jigging spoons in that creek channel intersection was fish on every time you dropped it down. I bet a few of these guys may know where it is.

Wish i could remember more about it but this trip was in 1980 and he died 6 months later in a car wreck. all i can remember was at that time you could see the road on both sides of the cove and he had an old dial type depth finder. he lined up on the road and trolled till we found the creek channel,

Anint that the truth but back in the 70's-90's were the haydays on Toledo. My dad fished back then and he said it was insane. Could catch 50-100 in 1 cove. No limit.

Downsize and fish a drop shot. I been having great results with a 5" rein's bubbling shaker worm. The tail floats and when you wiggle it in front of a fish they can't stand it. Texas rig it with a 2/0 straight shank hook,no more than 10lb floro. I normally use 15lb braid tied to a small spro swivel to 10lb floro with a mustad grip pin hook down to a 1/4 or 3/8 weight. Play with the leader length from the weight to the hook. A good starting point is 12-18". If fishing around grass a 24" or more leader works best. Don't underestimate the drop shot it catches big fish. For depth I would not fish any shallower than 15 foot.

ive been getting into drop shot lately. i like catching fish on spinning tackle. i have yet to catch anything over 2lb on it. i use 10lb braid with an 8lb floro leader. ive read people upsizing their hook and bait on dropshot. like using a 2/0 hook with a brush hog or fluke or something. i havent tried that. guess you would need to upsize your line to with that set up
