Default Basin Sacalait 2-26-11

Fished out of the fausse point state park today, ended up with 15 keeper sacalait with double or more throwbacks. All fish were caught on crawfish colored tube jigs 8" under a cork. They were all males, and very black. Also saw several gators and got a pic of a big daddy. Forgot how much I enjoy fishing in the backwaters of the basin, saw 1 boat all day.

It can be tough to fish, gotta run and gun alot. Fish were only holding on isolated cypress trees and the trees are few and far between. Caught 7 off of one tree. The keepers were nice sized though, that was a 120 quart ice chest in the pic.
